These reviews have been generated by the elders in the course of their study. Hopefully, they will be helpful to you in determining whether or not you wish to read the book as well. Many of the books read represent current issues in our studies, interests for personal holiness, or issues relating to our church. So, these reviews are one way to share the results with you!

Most of the books will include a brief summary, an academic level rating, the theological stance of the author, a general rating and whether or not it is recommended. The academic level is rated on the following scale:

  1. Fluffy;
  2. Light-weight/Easy to Read;
  3. Medium;
  4. Semi-technical/Slower read;
  5. Heavy-weight.

The general rating is on a scale of 1-10 and represents the author's view.

A few reviews are more in depth and do not follow this format.

REMEMBER: Be Discerning!

Just because a book is recommended doesn’t mean that you should set aside discernment. Use discernment in everything you read, no matter how trustworthy the author may be. At the same time, be teachable and willing to learn. Discernment doesn’t mean discarding something you are reading if it is different than what you previously thought. Discernment is examining the subject in light of Scripture and at the same time, being willing to be corrected if it matches up to the Scriptures. This is a hard skill to learn and apply!
